This is a story about a tortoise.

這是一個關于陸龜的故事。

He had everything a tortoise could want.

他擁有陸龜想要的一切。

He had a lovely log to sit on,

juicy apples to eat

and a very shiny shell.

他有一根可愛的原木可以坐，

多汁的蘋果可以吃，

以及一個非常閃亮的龜殼。

But he wasn’t happy.

但是他并不快樂。

All day long, he saw an eagle in the sky.

小烏龜(坐在他的原木上)望著天上的雄鷹，就這樣看了一整天。

Flying low. Flying high.

只見雄鷹一會兒低飛。一會兒飛得很高。

It had golden feathers and great big wings.

它有著金色的羽毛和巨大的翅膀。

“I wish I could fly,” said the tortoise. “I’ll try.”

烏龜想，“如果我也能飛，那該多好啊!” “我一定要試試。”

He climbed onto a rock… jumped into the air… and flopped onto his belly.

他努力爬上了巖石……(鉚足力氣)跳向空中……(然后，就聽見撲通一聲)他的肚子重重的摔在了地上。

“OOF!”

“好疼啊!”

He climbed up a tree… jumped into the air… and landed splat in a puddle.

只見他奮力爬上了一棵樹……再次跳到空中，只聽到啪嗒一聲，他掉進了一個水坑里。

He called to the eagle.

他(抬起頭)呼喚天空中的雄鷹。

“Will you take me into the sky? I want to be like you.”

“你能把我帶到天上嗎?我想和你一樣(在天上飛)。”

“What will you give me?” the eagle replied.

老鷹回答說，“(作為交換)你能給我什么?”

“You can have my log and my apples.”

“你可以擁有我的原木和蘋果。”

“Very well,” said the eagle.

“成交。”

“I will take you into the sky.”

“我會把你帶到天上的。”

Up and up the eagle rose… …up through the clouds to the bright blue sky.

雄鷹越飛越高…………很快他就穿過云層來到蔚藍色的天空。

“Hold on!”

雄鷹大喊道“堅持住!”。

The tortoise looked at the ground.

小烏龜低頭看著陸地。

It was a very long way down.

它感覺非常的高，離地面很遠。

He felt dizzy.

他感覺頭暈了。

“Eagle,” he said. “I don’t like it up here.”

烏龜說道。“雄鷹，” “我不喜歡待在這里，(我恐高)。”

“Please take me back!”

“(我受不了啦，)快帶我回去!”

So the eagle took the tortoise back to the ground.

于是雄鷹只好把小烏龜帶回了地面。

“Little tortoise,” said the eagle. “You have no feathers and no wings.”

雄鷹說，“小烏龜，” “你沒有羽毛也沒有翅膀。”

“You’re not made for flying.”

“你不適合飛行。”

“Keep your apples and your log.” “Be happy.”

“還是留著你的蘋果和原木吧。” “開心點。”

The tortoise smiled.

小烏龜(并沒有感到難過)。他開心的笑了。

He watched the eagle go.

目送雄鷹飛走后。他又坐回他的原木上，

He ate his apples.

吃了他的蘋果。 他現在非常滿足，

And he no longer wanted to fly.

他再也不會想學習飛行了。
