繪本內容翻譯：

Once upon a time, Bear had a long, thick tail. The other animals loved his tail.

很久以前，大熊有一條長長的厚厚的尾巴。其它的動物們都很愛他的尾巴。

Bear didn't like it at all. He tripped over it when he was walking.

大熊一點也不喜歡這條尾巴。他走路的時候總是被尾巴絆倒。

It tickled his nose when he tried to sleep. (Atishoo!) Little animals would even ride on it.

當它睡覺的時候，尾巴尖總是會撓到鼻子，讓它打噴嚏。(阿嚏!)小動物們喜歡騎在它的尾巴上。

“Bear's tail is better than mine,” thought Fox. (It's not fair!) He decided to play a trick on him.

“大熊的尾巴比我的更好，”狐貍想到。(這不公平!)于是，他決定戲弄大熊一下。

He crept over to a fisherman and took a few fish.

狐貍悄悄的爬到漁夫身邊，偷走了幾條魚。

Fox carried the fish to an ice hole in the lake. Bear smelled them. He came closer.

狐貍把魚藏到湖中的一個冰洞里。大熊聞到了魚的味道，慢慢走近。

“Those fish look delicious,” said Bear. “I can show you how to catch them,” said Fox.

“這些魚看上去很美味,”大熊說。“我可以給你演示一下如何抓住它們。”狐貍說。

“Put your tail in the hole,” Fox told Bear. “The fish will bite it and you can pull them out.” (It may take some time.)

“把你的尾巴伸進洞里去，”狐貍告訴大熊。“魚會咬你的尾巴，然后你可以把它們釣出來。”(這可能會花費一些時間。)

Bear waited and waited. Day became night. The night grew cold. It began to snow.

大熊等啊等啊。從白天等到了黑夜。夜里越來越冷，開始下雪了。

The next day, Fox came back. Was Bear still there? Fox could only see a huge heap of snow. “Bear ?” he shouted.

第二天，狐貍回來了。大熊還會在那兒嗎?狐貍只看到了一大堆雪。“大熊?”狐貍喊道。

Bear jumped up. But his tail had frozen in the lake... It broke off. (SNAP!) “I’m so sorry!” Fox cried. “I didn’t know that would happen.”

大熊跳了起來，但是它的尾巴被凍在了湖里。然后尾巴就斷掉了。(啊!)“我很抱歉!”狐貍哭著說。“我不知道會發生這種事。”

Bear looked at his new short tail, and smiled.(That’s better!)Bear padded away and he didn’t trip once.

大熊看著它的新的短短的尾巴，然后笑了。(真是太好了!)大熊輕輕地走了，他再也沒有被絆倒過。
