This is the story of Dragon Mountain, Phoenix Mountain and a shining lake. It begins thousands of years ago, in China.

這是一個關于龍山、鳳凰山還有一片閃亮亮的湖水的故事。這個故事發生在幾千年以前的中國。這是一個古老的故事。

Long, long ago, a dragon lived beside a magic river.

很久很久以前，魔法河邊住著一條神龍。

A dark forest grew on the other side of the river. Deep inside the forest lived a phoenix.

河的對面有一片漆黑的森林。森林深處住著一只鳳凰。

Every day, the dragon swam in the river. Every day, the phoenix flew in the sky above.

神龍每天在河里游啊游。鳳凰每天在天空中飛啊飛。

One day, they met on an island in the river. A shiny pebble lay on the sand. (it's beautiful!)

一天，他們在河中央的陸地上相遇。他們發現沙灘上有一個閃亮的鵝卵石。(太美了!)

The dragon washed it in the river. The phoenix polished it with a feather. And the pebble became a pearl.

神龍小心翼翼地拿到河里清洗它。鳳凰用羽輕輕地擦拭它。在百般呵護下，鵝卵石變成了珍珠。

The dragon and the phoenix stayed on the island……watching the pearl.

神龍和鳳凰守在珍珠身邊，目不轉睛的盯著這顆珍珠。

The pearl shone brighter than stars……brighter than the sun. It was so bright, the Queen of Heaven saw it shine.

這顆珍珠要比星星還閃，比太陽還亮。因為它太亮了，連王母娘娘都看到了它發出耀眼的光。

“I want that pearl!” she said.That night, she sent a guard to steal it.

她說：“我想要那顆珍珠!”當晚，她就派守衛去偷走珍珠。

In the morning, the pearl was gone. The dragon looked in the magic river. The phoenix looked in the dark forest. No pearl there…

第二天一早，珍珠不見了。神龍以為珍珠掉到了魔法河里。鳳凰以為珍珠消失在森林里。哪都找不到珍珠。

Then they saw it shining in the sky. They flew up to Heaven and saw the Queen. The pearl fell from the sky…(That pearl is ours!)(No,it's mine.)

忽然，他們發現珍珠原來在天上正發出耀眼的光。他們飛到天宮，看到了王母娘娘。一頓爭吵過后，珍珠從空中墜落。(這個珍珠是我們的!)(不，這是我的。)

It landed on the ground and became a shining lake. The dragon and the phoenix lay beside it. They are still there today. (We must never leave it. )

珍珠落地，變成了一片耀眼的湖。神龍和鳳凰在湖邊無時無刻地守候。他們至今還在。(我們絕不能離開它。)
