Scrooge's journey with the Ghost of Christmas Past takes him back to his first apprenticeship at a counting house run by Mr. Fezziwig, a jovial, generous man. A joyous Christmas feast and dance are held. Scrooge begins to show signs of regret for the miserly choices he has made in life, and he is reminded of how his greed led to a break-up with Belle, the love of his life. Finally, readers see how Belle's life has happily evolved without Scrooge.
