港口小鎮(zhèn)中，一只孤獨(dú)的企鵝彷徨在空蕩蕩的街道上。它漫無目的來到了一個(gè)小男孩的家中。小企鵝成為男孩的累贅，男孩得知企鵝都是生長(zhǎng)在南極。于是，他制作了小木船，和小企鵝踏上了前往南極的歸鄉(xiāng)旅途……

改編的同名短片榮獲2009年英國(guó)電影電視藝術(shù)學(xué)院兒童獎(jiǎng)最佳影片獎(jiǎng)和2009年芝加哥國(guó)際兒童電影節(jié)兒童評(píng)委會(huì)獎(jiǎng)最佳動(dòng)畫片。

繪本內(nèi)容

Once there was a boy, who found a penguin at his door.

從前，有個(gè)小男孩，在家門口發(fā)現(xiàn)了一只小企鵝。

The boy didn't where it had come from, but it began to follow him everywhere.

小男孩不知道小企鵝是從哪兒來的，但是無論小男孩走到哪里，它都一路跟著。

The penguin looked sad and the boy thought it must be lost.

小企鵝看起來不開心，所以小男孩覺得它是走丟了。

So the boy decided to help the penguin find its way home.

于是，小男孩想幫助小企鵝找到回家的路。

He checked in the Lost and Found Office.But no one was missing a penguin.

他去了失物招領(lǐng)辦公室，但是并沒有人丟失了一只企鵝。

He asked some birds if they knew where the penguin came from.

他問了幾只鳥兒，知不知道企鵝是從哪里來的。

But they ignored him.

但是鳥兒們不理不睬的。

Some birds are like that.

有的鳥兒就是這樣。

The boy asked his duck.

小男孩又問了他的小鴨子。

But the duck floated away. He didn't know either.

但是小鴨子游走啦。他也不知道呢。

The night, the boy couldn't sleep for disappointment.

到了夜里，小男孩失望得睡不著覺。

He wanted to help the penguin but he wasn't sure how.

他很想幫助企鵝，但是卻不知道怎么辦。

The next morning he discovered that penguin come from the South Pole.

第二天，他發(fā)現(xiàn)了企鵝是從南極來的。

But how could he get there!

但是他怎么才能去南極呢!

He ran down to the harbor and asked a big ship to take them to the South Pole.

他跑到了海港，對(duì)著一艘大船問，可以帶他們?nèi)ツ蠘O嗎。

But his voice was much too small to be heard over the ship's horn.

但是他的聲音太小啦，淹沒在了船號(hào)聲里。

Together, the boy decided, he and the penguin would row to the South Pole.

于是，小男孩決定和小企鵝一起劃船去南極。

So the boy took his rowboat out and tested it for size and strength.

于是男孩兒拿出了他的船，試了試大小和長(zhǎng)度。

He told stories to the penguin to help pass the time.

他還給小企鵝講了好多故事，來消磨時(shí)間。

Then they packed everything they would need……

于是他們準(zhǔn)備好了要用到的所有行李……

……and pushed the rowboat out to sea.

……并且把船推到了海邊。

They rowed south for many days……

他們向南劃了好多個(gè)白天……

and many nights.

……和好多個(gè)黑夜。

There was lots of time for stories,and the penguin listened to every one, so the boy would always tell another.

有好多好多時(shí)間可以聽故事呢，小企鵝聽完一個(gè)故事，小男孩兒就講下一個(gè)故事。
