After the Civil War ended, the U.S. Army formed the regiments that would come to be known as the buffalo soldiers. In the face of racial discrimination, hardship, and deadly violence, the buffalo soldiers displayed incredible courage. Their service is an important chapter in the history of the United States. The Buffalo Soldiers can also be used to teach students how to sequence events and recognize and use correct subject-verb agreement. The book and lesson are also available for levels T and Q.

RAZ按難度分為27個級別，AA—C這4個級別對應幼兒園階段; D—J這7個級別對應美國小學一年級;K—P這6個級別對應美國小學二年級;Q—T這4個級別對應美國小學三年級;U—W這3個級別對應美國小學四年級;X—Z對應美國小學五六年級(相當于國內高中畢業)。
